Within a short time, market prices dropped significantly, with each vendor blaming the others for the discounts. Together, we developed a process to check prices daily across defined competitors and platforms. Deviations from the recommended retail prices were immediately reported and documented. After just a few weeks, the recommended price level was restored, and the monitoring was reduced to a weekly cycle.
Bus Travel Companies

A company specializing in customized bus tours faced significant challenges in determining its competitors‘ prices. Together, we defined appropriate inquiries and target competitors, collecting the necessary information both in writing and by phone. We discovered that our client had been underpricing its offerings and was able to increase its prices by 18%. Since then, we repeat this process biannually while also monitoring new market entrants, incorporating them directly into our analysis. This ensures that prices remain competitive and up to date.
International Online Retail

Our client offers around 40,000 items, many of which are highly price-sensitive and available from numerous suppliers. Due to the large product range and the high number of competitors, pricing became very complex – traditional price crawlers struggled with missing product identifiers such as EAN codes or manufacturer part numbers. Together with the client, we defined the key competitors and platforms and additionally simulated the traditional customer search via search engines to capture all potential suppliers. We conducted this research manually and stored all the information in our own pricing software. After just a few weeks, we implemented active pricing, where the selling prices were adjusted to the level of the cheapest supplier, provided certain conditions (e.g., minimum margin and availability) were met. We then automatically contacted all affected suppliers when the required margin could not otherwise be maintained. As a result, the retail company was able to reduce its purchasing prices by up to 40% in individual cases and by an average of nearly 4% across the entire range. This successful project has since been continuously maintained.

What distinguishes Ant Pricing from traditional price scraping?
Price scraping is a technique used to automatically extract data, such as prices, from online shops or marketplaces. This method has many drawbacks. The software needs to be tailored to the specific websites and their structure. If clear identifiers like EAN codes or product numbers are missing, and the matching can only be done based on product descriptions or imprecise features, corresponding crawlers or bots often fail. Additionally, online shop or platform operators typically have no interest in allowing their pages to be scraped, and as a result, such software is blocked. Another disadvantage is that many online shops’ customer-specific prices, such as discounts for children, seniors, or loyal customers, cannot be detected by software. Our approach is different. We use proprietary software as the foundation for our research, but the core of our work is manual research and analysis. Our teams are specifically trained for each situation and recognize all the particularities of their industry.
How does communication for my project work?

In general, once we have defined the project with you, we assess the scope and provide you with a binding offer for the defined goal.
